Education Ministry’s 2021 Donor Meeting takes place

The Ministry of Education and Science has successfully organized the 2021 meeting of its donor organizations.

Resident representatives of the World Bank Group, Asian Development Bank, Japan International Cooperation Agency, and the United Nations, Ambassadors of the United States, France, United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, and Italy, and some staff of Embassies and international organizations attended the meeting. Ambassadors representing Mongolia abroad also took part in the meeting virtually.

At the meeting, it was announced that preparations are underway to carry out legal and budgetary reforms in the sector. Moreover, pressing issues that need to be addressed with promptitude in the near future and major projects and programs were presented. The representatives of international organizations expressed their views on how the two parties could cooperate. The projects proposed for cooperation are as follows:

- Ensuring possibilities for lifelong learning - this is a concept that includes every activity of continuous learning and personal development to improve their knowledge, skills, and capacity, such as formal education and training, non-formal education and training, and independent learning in professional, personal and social contexts.

- Implementation of school lunch program – In 2019, the State Great Khural passed a law on school meal production and services to change the ‘School Breakfast’ program to ‘School Lunch’ program and to increase the funding for the program. In this regard, efforts are underway to provide cafeterias that meet standards, equitably distribute healthy and nutritious meals, produce meals using local food products, and raise awareness on proper nutrition.

- Strengthening the quality assessment system – The government is aiming to increase quality and inclusiveness of the education services it provides to the citizens and improve the education quality assessment system.  

- Conducting a feasibility study into building a science park

- Carrying out digital transformation in education sector.
